SHAH ALAM, April 30 – Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Kota Anggerik, Mohd Yusof Din said there are clear signs that voters in the constituency want BN to rule Selangor.
Mohd Yusof who is fondly known as ‘Ustaz Yusof’ said this was conveyed by voters whom he met while on a familiarisation tour over the past three months.
“Even those who are not keen on politics pleaded with BN to take back Selangor,” he said when met here today.
The former director of Wasatiyah Institute said if elected, he will reorganise mosques and surau to ensure that Muslims receive real Islamic knowledge.
“Next time, we don’t have to worry where to go for Friday prayers. This is because there are imams who said vote PAS during sermons. We go to mosques for peace of mind.”
Mohd Yusof,41, said mosques should be a centre for Muslims to strengthen feelings of brotherhood. Kota Anggerik state seat has 55,008 voters comprising 68.3 percent Malays, 17.5 percent Chinese, 13.4 percent Indians and 0.8 percent others.
BN candidate for Shah Alam, Datuk Zulkifli Noordin said the good sign was reflected on youths who were not shy to wear BN shirts or fly flags at home unlike in 2008.
As such, BN candidates will need to work hard to keep the momentum going to ensure victory in Shah Alam parliamentary, Kota Anggerik and Batu Tiga state seats. Shah Alam has 100,076 voters comprising 68.76 percent Malays, 15.54 percent Chinese, 15.08 percent Indians and 0.63 percent others.
