KUALA LUMPUR, May 27- The Malaysian Girl Guides Association (MGGA) should organise more programmes to promote the love for our country and appreciate peace and harmony, especially among youngsters, said Prime Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor (photo).
Rosmah who is also the president of MGGA, said peace and stability enjoyed in the country today was built by past national leaders and should be defended.
“If you want to destroy it, you can destroy it in a blink of an eye. But you will probably need another 40 to 50 years to rebuild it. So you must think very carefully about it,” she said at the opening ceremony of the 2012/2013 MGGA annual general meeting, here, today.
The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah who officiated the AGM, reminded all MGGA members to continue serving and assisting the community, especially those in need of help.
The Raja Permaisuri Agong also congratulated a Form One student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Aminuddin Baki in Kuala Lumpur, Sarah Batrisyia Mohammed A’reeff, for winning the Green peace ‘Flag for the Future’ award organised by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Sarah Batrisyia, 13, beat 1,400 participants from 43 countries to receive a certificate of appreciation from Tuanku Hajah Haminah at the ceremony. Raja Permaisuri Agong also presented the Asian-Pacific awards to 28 association leaders, Asia-Pacific certificates (2 recipients) and the Queen’s Guide awards to 31 rangers. Some 204 delegates from all over the country attended the meeting.
