KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 – The High Court will hear on Jan 27 next year PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s testimony over his suit against Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris for allegedly posting on the “Papa Gomo” blog defamatory words against him (Anwar) and linking him with another man in a sex video.
Judge Rosilah Yop also set Jan 28 to hear the suit. She set the date in chambers today during case management.
Anwar’s counsel Mohd Afiq Mohd Noor told reporters that Anwar would be calling four witnesses. Wan Muhammad Azri, who had denied that he was the owner of the “Papa Gomo” blog, is expected to call two witnesses.
Anwar filed a RM100-million defamation suit on March 21 claiming that Wan Muhammad Azri had posted four series of defamatory words on the www.papagomo.com website on March 16, 17, 19 and 20.
In his statement of claim, Anwar had said that Wan Muhammad Azri had also set a weblink in which were displayed a series of images which allegedly insinuated and/or implied that they were of him.
Anwar is seeking general, aggravated and exemplary damages, interests, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court, as well as an injunction to restrain the defendant from further posting the defamatory words and images.
Wan Muhammad Azri, in his statement of defence filed on May 20, had denied that he was the owner of the ‘Papa Gomo’ blog.
He contended that the house address stated in Anwar’s suit was also not his and that he did not know Anwar in a personal capacity.
Anwar, in his reply to the statement of defence filed today, said he would prove that Wan Muhammad Azri was the owner of the ‘Papa Gomo’ blog.
He claimed that Wan Muhammad Azri had also been making personal attacks against the opposition parties and its leaders without any justification.
