JULY 2- Despite mixed reviews, UTV Motion Pictures’ comedy “Ghanchakkar” has collected Rs.22.3 crore in India on its first weekend.
The Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan-starrer film opened to a slow start, earning Rs.7.2 crore on Friday. The film was made under the budget of Rs.20 crore.
The breakup of the film’s earnings is: Fri Rs.7.20 crore, Sat Rs.7.30 crore, Sun Rs.7.80 crore.
Overseas, too the collections were decent. The film earned Rs.3.60 lacs in Newzealand, Rs.15.23 lacs in Australia, Rs.52.90 lacs in the UK, and Rs.31.43 lacs in Canada.
Prior to the film’s release, Emraan and Vidya were seen heavily promoting the film on TV shows like “Indian Idol Junior” and “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6”, among others.
