KOTA KINABALU, Aug 1 – The “Ops Daulat” special performance by members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in remembrance of the country’s fallen heroes in the Lahad Datu intrusion incident earlier this year, touched the hearts of the audience at the state-level Warriors’ Day celebration Wednesday.
The dramatic performance at the multipurpose hall of the Likas Sports Complex, here, tried to show the actual situation faced by members of the MAF while on duty in defending the country’s sovereignty.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said through the annual celebration, society especially the younger generation would be more appreciative of the contributions of the national heroes and past leaders, thus instilling greater love for the country and for peace.
Also present were the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, state police deputy commissioner Datuk Tan Kok Liang and Kota Kinabalu mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir.
Form Five student of SMK Agama Kota Kinabalu, Kamal Habib Norakim who joined the parade together with the School Youth Cadet, said he was proud to have the opportunity to participate in the celebration for the second time this year.
“This celebration is very meaningful as it can enhance our patriotic spirit,” he said.
