PUTRAJAYA, Aug 2 – The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) has declared as insulting to Islam the controversial video clip ‘1 Hari Di Hari Raya’ showing a woman celebrating Aidilfitri with her pet dogs.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said today Jakim had been instructed to convey the decision to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Yesterday, Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the MCMC would consult Jakim on the matter of the video before making a decision.
Ahmad Shabery had said that the case would be handed over to the Attorney-General if Jakim decided that the video clip had tarnished the sanctity of Islam.
Maznah Mohd Yusof, 38, also known as Chetz, found herself under verbal attack after a video of her spending Aidilfitri with her dogs three years ago was uploaded on YouTube on Monday.
