ALOR SETAR, Aug 15- Former Kedah Menteri Besar Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) after three months of treatment at the Penang Hospital (HPP).

imageAzizan, 69, arrived at HSB at 11.15am Wednesday accompanied by close relatives.

One of his sons, who declined to be identified, said the State Assemblyman for Sungai Limau was stable and in good condition during the journey.

“We left Penang at 10am. His condition was OK along the journey and his health is improving,” he said when met at HSB.

Meanwhile, former press secretary Mohd Helmi Khalid said they were informed yesterday that Azizan would be moved to Kedah.

He said that Azizan’s health was improving and the wounds from the amputated legs were healing. His legs had to be amputated due to complications from diabetes.

Helmi said, nevertheless, doctors did not allow too many visitors for Azizan as he had to rest.

“Azizan can now talk and communicate with visitors but he is still under observation,” he said. Azizan was forced to have his legs amputated to prevent infections on the legs from spreading.

He was treated at the Kedah Medical Centre on May 6 and was transferred to HPP the next day.
