2KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18- The secretary-general of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) was a national enemy and his death should not be glorified, said the Director-General of the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV), Major-General Datuk Mohd Noor Daud.

He said Chin Peng, 90, who once led the communist party in this country, was fully responsible for the deaths of thousands of members of the security forces and people who had fought to defend the sovereignty of the country.

As such, Mohd Noor supported the decision of the government not to allow the body or ashes of Chin Peng to be brought back to Malaysia.

chin-peng“As a fighter for the country, I will certainly object to the burial of Chin Peng in Malaysia because of his ‘dark history’. Furthermore, Chin Peng was not a Malaysian citizen,” he said when commenting on the call by certain groups that the government allowed Chin Peng to be buried in this country.

downloadWhen met by reporters after a function to hand over contributions to armed forces veterans in the capital, Tuesday, Mohd Noor said Malaysians should appreciate the deeds and sacrifices of national heroes not national enemies such as Chin Peng.

Chin Peng, or his real name Ong Boon Hua, who lived in exile in Thailand died at a hospital in Bangkok at 6.20am Monday due to old age.
