Kuala Lumpur, Nov 9 – MIC central working committee (CWC) member M. Mohana, who is vying for the party’s Wanita chief post, is keen to set up a think tank to draft a blueprint for the development of Indian women in the country.

She said the think tank consisting of women from all levels, corporate, government, business and political parties, will address issues confronting Indian women to enable them to realise their full potential.

“Through this think tank, I wish to play a role in empowering Indian women from all socio-economic levels,” she told Bernama after filing her nomination papers for the Wanita MIC chief post at the party’s headquarters here today.

Mohana, 37, who has been with the party for almost 20 years, also plans to set up a cooperative for uplifting Indian women besides recruiting more members into the party fold.

She is taking on Wanita MIC secretary M. Vickneswari for the movement’s number one post in the Nov 16 polls.

Meanwhile, MIC deputy youth leader V. Mugilan, who is vying for the youth chief post, said he was confident of winning as he has been in the youth movement since 2000.

“With my experience, skills and holding the youth division chief post for Hulu Selangor MIC for almost five terms, it will be an easy win for me,” said Mugilan, who started campaigning almost five months ago.

He said he will bring drastic changes to lead the almost 400,000-strong MIC youth towards the right direction.

“I brought reform to MIC and will continue to fight for every youth in the country,”he added.

Mugilan will challenge MIC Youth secretary C. Sivaraajh for the movement’s number one post in the Nov 16 polls.
