JERANTUT, Feb 23 – One hundred PAS members in Tahan state constituency quit the party yesterday.  Their spokesman, Mohamad Rosdi Hussin, said they made the decision after finding that the party had deviated from its original struggles and that its leaders failed to keep their promises to the members.

Rosli said more party members were expected to follow suit soon as they had also lost their confidence in the party. However, he said, instead of joining other political party, they decided to join Tembeling Heritage Club (Kawat), a non-governmental organisation which fights for the welfare of the people in Hulu Tembeling.  Kawat president Wan Abdul Halim Wan Umar said Kawat welcomed the group as its new members as the club concerned about their welfare.

“Kawat will accept anybody as its members regardless of their political background because the club was established with the aim to help the people in Hulu Tembeling in terms of their welfare,” he added.
