The also claimed that Abdul Khalid, as the chief executive of the state government, had abused his power for not taking any action to honour the promise and that both the defendants had practised discrimination against them. Meanwhile, their lawyer, Kamarudin Ahmad, said his clients were the first batch of senior citizens to file such a suit. He said they were from Shah Alam, Gombak, Tanjung Karang, Ampang, Hulu Langat and Kuala Selangor. According to the Selangor Senior Citizen Action Association chairman, Datuk Ismail Kijo, there are 300,000 senior citizens registered in the state.
