KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 – The Health Ministry will set up a mobile hospital in Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu to serve those in need of medical attention at the conflict zone. Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai(Pic) said the mobile hospital will
serve as an overall medical service centre for the people of Lahad Datu, starting next week.

LI0W TIONG LAI“The Prime Minister has been informed of the initiative. People can come to the mobile hospital and we can even admit those in serious health conditions because the mobile hospital will also have wards for patients. For a start, there will be 12 beds.

“I have already directed the Director-general of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah to act. We will continue to monitor the situation in Lahad Datu,” he said during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s visit and opening ceremony of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s Specialist Complex cum Ambulatory Care Center (SCACC HKL), here today.

Liow said he had visited Lahad Datu yesterday and was happy with the medical teams that have been stationed at various temporary ‘housing’ centres for the people of Lahad Datu who were displaced due to the intrusion of Sulu terrorists since Feb 12, and Ops Daulat.

“Our main concern is to avoid the spread of any contagious disease,” he said.
