Tamil Nadu elections to be held on May 16 – Counting on May 19!

elections-polls-evm-voting-041013Chennai – Tamil Nadu state assembly elections will be held on the 16th of May 2016 and the counting will take place on 19th of May.

Voting will take place on a single day across Tamil Nadu’s 234 state assembly constituencies.

Neighbouring Puducherry state will also go for voting on the same day. Puducherry has 30 assembly seats.

Nomination will commence on April 22 and will end on April 29. Nominations will be processed and finalised on 30th of April and 2nd of May 2016 is the last day for withdrawals if any.

Voting for state assembly elections will also take place in another 5 States including Tamil Nadu.

In all the states results will be announced on the 19th of May 2016.

Assam

Elections will be held in Assam in two phases on April 4 and April 11. Assam has 126 assembly seats.

West Bengal

In West Bengal, elections will be held in six phases, with seven days of polling – voting on April 4 and April 11 will be counted as a single phase, the poll panel said. Voting will also be held on April 17, April 21, April 25, April 30 and May 5. West Bengal has 294 seats.

Kerala

Kerala will have elections in a single phase, with all 140 constituencies voting on May 16, the same day as Tamil Nadu.
