David Miliband(pic) is leaving British politics in a departure that closes a rift at the top of the Labour Party but raises questions about its direction under his brother Ed Miliband.David Miliband, a former foreign secretary, is expected to quit as MP for South Shields and move to the US to run a charity.
Labour sources confirmed a Daily Mirror report that David Miliband, 47, is leaving the UK to run International Rescue Committee (IRC), a charity based in New York. His move comes more than two years after he was narrowly beaten to the party leadership by his brother. The election caused a major rift between the two and he refused to serve in Ed Miliband’s shadow cabinet. He is a leader continuously made pressures on Lankan government to stop final stage of war in the country.
