n_p24larrysng1KANOWIT, April- The state opposition Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) will announce its four other candidates for the upcoming parliamentary election in the state this Tuesday. Its president Larry Sng Wei Shien(pic) said this would be done in Lubok Antu, Sri Aman Division, where the party would hold its first anniversary celebration. He was speaking to reporters after officiating at a party function, here, today.

Sng has so far named SWP deputy president George Lagong as its candidate for the Hulu Rajang seat while party vice-president Wong Judat would stand in Julau. Lagong is also Pelagus assemblyman while Wong, formerly from the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) which is a state Barisan Nasional (BN) component party, is Meluan assemblyman.

Sng was supposed to announce the party’s candidate for the Kanowit seat today but decided to withhold it due to a newspaper report on a mass resignation by over 350 SWP members in Julau. He dismissed the reported action as “main wayang” or play-acting.

“We have yet to receive their letters telling us they are resigning,” he said.

Meanwhile, he hinted that a university lecturer and part-time Iban recording artiste, Ellison Ludan Muyaan might be the SWP candidate for Kanowit to take on incumbent Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) if he is
re-nominated by BN to defend the seat.

“Ellisan who is from Nanga Jagau, here, has been working very hard on the ground,” he said.

Sng again stressed that SWP was still pro-BN and would only fight PRS in all its six parliamentary seats of Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Kanowit, Selangau, Julau and Hulu Rajang.
