1 April 2013-President Mahinda Rajapaksa(pic) says that he cannot let ethnic and racial conflicts arise in the country for the purpose of accomplishing narrow political objectives.
The President said that the responsibility of safeguarding all religions lies with the government and stressed that it was the freedom of the motherland that was won after defeating three decades of terrorism.
The President made these comments at a function held in the Sapugoda temple in Beruwala.
This function was held to declare open several buildings in the temple premises.
the President added that it was the duty of all Sri Lankans to join and build a country filled with peace and harmony
