KUALA LUMPUR – Petaling Jaya Member of Parliament Maria Chin Abdullah’s son was injured after being stabbed by a man in a robbery attempt near a housing estate, Taman Mayang Emas, Petaling Jaya yesterday.
Petaling Jaya Deputy OCPD, Supt Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the 26-year-old victim was stabbed on the right side of his stomach while jogging in the area at about 6 pm.
“The victim was taken to the University of Malaya Medical Centre for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition,” he said in a statement to the media without mentioning the name of the victim.
Ku Mashariman said the case was being investigated under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery.
Meanwhile when contacted by Bernama, Maria said her son was currently stable and conscious.
“I have spoken with him and he might need to undergo surgery….we (family members) are still waiting for the doctor’s advice,” she added.
