Tan Sri Abdul Khalid IbrahimKUALA LUMPUR, April 3 – Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim(Pic) has filed an application to initiate committal proceedings against former chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Datuk Seri Ahmad Said Hamdan and the government. Abdul Khalid filed the application at the Civil High Court registry here today through the law firm of S.N.Nair & Partners whereby he named Ahmad Said and the Government of Malaysia as respondents.

Abdul Khalid cited as grounds the failure on the part of Ahmad Said and the government to issue a public apology to him in line with a court order by the Shah Alam High Court asking them to do so after he won a defamation suit against the two respondents.

It was one of the terms of a consent judgment obtained by the menteri besar on March 19 to settle the suit. The respondents were to make the apology in the New Straits Times and the Star newspapers within four days of March 19 but have yet to do so. In April 2009, Abdul Khalid had sued the two respondents over defamatory statements published about him concerning maintenance of his private car and purchase of 46 heads of cattle for an Aidiladha celebration in his parliamentary constituency of Bandar Tun Razak.  Ahmad Said had read out a statement of apology in court pertaining to the matter.
