PUTRAJAYA — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Malaysians to postpone non-essential travel to the affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
The advice was issued given the current circumstances in the two areas, Wisma Putra said.
“Malaysians requiring consular assistance and services, may contact the High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi at 50-M, Satya Marg, Chanakyapuri, 110021 New Delhi or call +911124159300 and +919319150306 (after working hours).
“The High Commission’s email address is mwdelhi@kln.gov.my,” Wisma Putra said in a statement issued today.
Malaysia was monitoring the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as the country has close and friendly relations with both India and Pakistan, it said.
“Malaysia encourages the two close neighbours to re-engage in dialogue and negotiations with a view to de-escalate the on-going situation and finding an amicable solution,” the statement read.
Indian authorities on Friday was reported to have told tourists to leave Kashmir because of ‘terror threats’, as media reports said 25,000 military reinforcements have been sent to the troubled Himalayan region.
