BANGALORE, Jan 22 — India is in the process of setting up a national cyber security architecture aimed at preventing sabotage, espionage and other forms of attack, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
National Security advisor Shivshankar Menon (pic) said the architecture is to protect critical information infrastructure and other networks and will involve monitoring and certification of India’s networks by designated agencies and bodies in accordance with the law.
“It will also involve capacity and authority for operations in cyber space,” Menon said when delivering a lecture on India’s external and internal security at the National Institute of Advanced Studies.
The National Security Council has approved the architecture and details of implementation are currently being ironed out with the relevant ministries and agencies for approval by the Cabinet.
