“(Although) I (have) mentioned it (about not contesting in the 13GE) a few times; I will (still have to) look at the situation. If I am needed, I will hold back my retirement plan and contest,” he told reporters here today.
When asked whether Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) leaders were also among those who had persuaded him to stay on, he said there were a few but declined to give any names. On whether he was also persuaded by Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the 72-year-old Yong said: “You (have to) wait until he (Najib) makes the announcement (of candidates).”
