ali-rustamMELAKA, April 17 – Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam (pic)  has described the additional election manifesto launched by the
opposition pact in Melaka last night as an empty manifesto with no objective whatsoever.

Mohd Ali, who is also Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said this was because all the things listed in the manifesto had already been implemented by the BN government, including efforts to provide affordable homes for the people, improving public transportation and providing incentives for the young to pursue their studies.

“They launched the manifesto just for the sake of doing what we have done and what we have achieved, when in reality they have nothing to offer,” he told reporters after presenting 1Malaysia People’ Aid (BR1M) to 1,890 recipients in Bukit Katil here today.

When asked about who his successor should be, Mohd Ali, who was named as BN candidate in Bukit Katil parliamentary constituency, said it was up to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to decide and that he would support whoever named as the next Chief Minister of Melaka.

“But right now, we have to win the 13th general election first. I’m sure whoever appointed to replace me will be able to discharge the duties and gain supports from all quarters, especially from me,” he said.

Meanwhile, Melaka DAP still failed to announce its final list of candidates for the GE13, with only three days left to the nomination day. Members of the media, who were informed that the announcement would be made at DAP headquarters in Lorong Pandan here today, started to flock the building since 2pm, only to be told that it was postponed and that it would be done by Friday, at the latest.

Melaka DAP chairman Goh Leong San said this was because the candidate for Kota Laksamana state seat had yet to be finalised.
“We are also considering other factors, including the views of party leadership and local residents,” he said.
