IPOH: DAP has urged the people not to waste their votes on the independent candidates on May 5 as they could not bring big changes to the country.
Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming said independent candidates contesting in the general election are only doing so for their own personal interest.
“People who chose to contest against their own party are only interested in their personal agenda,” he told reporters at the Ipoh Central Market here with Ipoh Barat parliamentary seat candidate M. Kulasegaran and Bercham state seat candidate Cheong Chee Khing on Sunday.
He was commenting on several former state party members who had gone against them by standing as independent candidates.
Most notable was Aulong incumbent Yew Tian Hoe who wants to defend his state seat and former ally to DAP vice-chairman M. Kulasegaran, R. K. Muthu, who is standing in Bercham.
Noting that former party members that had gone and contest against its chosen candidates, Nga said they have been “automatically” sacked as dictated by the top party leadership.
