JOHOR BAHARU, Jan 27 — The Indian community in Johor has been asked to keep supporting the Barisan Nasional (BN) government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to assure its future.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the support was important to enable the prime minister to continue his development agenda for the people irrespective of race.
“I call on the Indian community in Johor to go for a better future by giving the mandate to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for the next five years when the general election comes,” he said when gracing the Thaipusam celebration at the Sri Muniswarar temple here today.
Also present were Pulai MP Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed and Johor MIC chief Datuk K.S Balakrishnan.
At the function, Abdul Ghani also handed over cheque for RM500,000 which is a contribution from the state government to assist the temple’s management committee to build a multi-purpose hall at the 65-year-old temple’s grounds.
