KUANTAN, April 26 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the Barisan Nasional (BN) Manifesto for the 13th General Election was not just a manifesto but the party’s ‘Akujanji’ that will be judged by the people and GOD the almighty, if not fulfilled after a new mandate was given on May 5.
The Prime Minister said since he introduced the concept of 1Malaysia: People First, Performance Now, four years ago, it has become a philosophy and not a mere slogan, to continue the country’s progress and development through various transformation programmes planned and implemented.
Najib said through the BN Manifesto based on the 1Malaysia philosophy, the BN government will turn it into reality so that the people and the country can continue enjoying peace and harmony.
“When we release a ‘Akujanji’ in five years, it will be better,” he said in his speech during a meet-the-people session after visiting the Sungai Isap flood mitigation project in Kuantan, here, today.
Najib said the flood mitigation project worth RM78 million was also a programme based on the 1Malaysia philosophy of People First, because it is aimed at resolving the problems faced by the people in the area. When it was completed two years ago, about 15,000 people living in and around Sungai Isap benefited by not having to face any more flood problems.
Najib said the BN government would continue to bring about changes once given the new mandate, based on the ‘Akujanji’, which is based on the 1Malaysia philosophy.
“Are all governments the same? Certainly not all governments are the same! There are governments that are systematic, organised, can plan, have ideas, able to implement and there are also governments that promise the moon, stars and the universe is their limit, knowing pretty well such promises will be impossible to be fulfilled, some are sweet talkers but full of vengeance,” he said.
During his one day packed programme in Pahang, Najib was able to witness for himself, the transformation programmes and the benefits enjoyed by the people through such programmes. Earlier, the prime minister also visited the Kuantan Sentral Bus Terminal in
Indera Mahkota that was built at a cost of RM55 million under the transformation of public transport, aimed at improving the public transportation system in Kuantan.
At noon, Najib also visited the DRB-HICOM Automotive Complex in Pekan which had started as a small factory in 1984 but has since blossomed into a major hub and able to contribute RM12 billion to the country’s Gross National Income (GNI) by 2015. Najib said what was important now was to ensure continued growth, revenue, stability, peace and harmony that the people would enjoy in the future.
