TUMPAT, April 30- Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN) chief, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil today urged all the BN election machinery to ensure that no voter would be duped by the opposition’s alleged attempts to demonstrate how the indelible ink is used on voters.
She said all BN party workers campaigning from house to house should remind the public that there would be no such demonstration.
“They (opposition) are now worried as they know who will be supporting BN. They will enter people’s homes and pretend to want to demonstrate, including to the elderly, how the indelible ink will be used on voters’ finger.
“I have informed all the divisions’ Wanita leaders and the election machinery to be wary of this, which could be the work of the opposition,” she said after meeting the Tumpat parliamentary constituency’s Wanita BN machinery in Kampung Laut, here, today.
She was commenting on claims that some opposition party workers were trying to demonstrate on women voters on the use of indelible ink, which would only cause disputes on polling day.
Meanwhile, Shahrizat was confident that the two BN women candidates, Nik Noriza Nik Salleh and Dayang Saniah Awang Hamid who would be contesting the Pasir Pekan and Kemahang state seats could help bring change to Kelantan if they win in the GE13.
She believed that Nik Noriza, better known as Kak Chik, was capable in taking on the incumbent and Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob in Pasir Pekan.
“Kak Chik is a new face but she is experienced, educated and accepted by the local community. Although her opponent is a party (PAS) big gun, don’t be surprised if she could wrest the seat for BN,” she said.
Earlier, in her speech, Shahrizat reminded the 300-odd members of the Tumpat Wanita BN machinery not to be dispirited or intimidated by the obstacles put in their way by the opposition, but to continue working hard to ensure victory for BN in the GE13.
