Selliyal web media was launched on December 12, 2012. It has been operating successfully for the past 13 years. It also earned the distinction of being the first mobile app created for Tamil news on smart devices in Malaysia.
Selliyal’s website has become a historical archive containing tens of thousands of news articles, essays, rare photographs, and details about various events centered on Malaysian Indians. Additionally, Selliyal published news related to India, world countries, technology, and Tamil literature, and shared them promptly on its social media streams—Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
In the rapidly changing technological world—the entry of artificial intelligence and its resulting impact—the media industry is transforming daily. People increasingly prefer to consume news very briefly and quickly in video format. In-depth analytical articles do not receive much attention.
Amid these changes, we have been deeply examining from multiple angles over the past few months on how to continue the platform’s operations. We realized that transitioning from the current structure to new expectations carries all the challenges of creating an entirely new media platform. Therefore, we regretfully inform Selliyal’s readers that we have decided to cease Selliyal’s media operations on December 31, 2025.
However, the Selliyal platform will continue to remain online as an archive. All news published over the past 13 years will continue to be preserved online for readers’ use and for research purposes. Everyone can access and utilize those articles through the current web address (Selliyal.com).
At this juncture, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the well-wishers who have stood as pillars of support for Selliyal’s operations until this day.
