JOHOR BAHARU, April 30 – The harmonious relationship among various races in Johor could be affected if the opposition were to capture the state, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The prime minister said this would not be in the best interest of the people and if this were to happen, it would be to late to turn the clock back.
He, however, expressed his confidence that the people would not let that happened by making the right choice in the 13th general election for Johor had been the Barisan Nasional (BN) stronghold for a long time.
“I realise that we are facing a tough fight in Gelang Patah, but our machinery is working hard and our spirit is high.
“Our candidate (Tan Sri) Abdul Ghani Othman will strive to retain Johor as the BN stronghold,” he said in a special interview with Bernama Radio24 while attending the people’s gathering at Sentosa Complex here, yesterday afternoon.
Abdul Ghani, who is Johor menteri besar and state BN chairman, will face DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang in what is anticipated to be one of the most intensely-fought battles in the polls.
