1PETALING JAYA: PKR today rebuked Barisan Nasional’s (BN) explanation on allegations that voters are being flown out from East Malaysia to vote in the Peninsular.

“We are not concerned about who is paying for the flights. Our question is are you flying legitimate voters into West Malaysia?” asked PKR supreme council member R Sivarasa today.

Yesterday, Anwar alleged that about 40,000 people are being flown in using 16 chartered flights from East Malaysia to vote in the Peninsula, mainly Selangor.

He also said that he had photographic evidence of the matter and claimed that the Prime Minister’s Office was involved in it.

While the PMO had denied playing any role in ferrying in these voters, BN secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor yesterday admitted that there were flights being chartered to ferry voters from East Malaysia to vote in the Peninsular.

However, he did not touch on the legitimacy of the voters and merely said that flights were paid for by BN friendly individuals and organisations.

Sivarasa urged BN leaders to give more details on the voters being ferried in order to cast out any doubts on the legitimacy of the voters.

“Are they really Malaysians? Tengku Adnan did not answer that question.

“Give us details. On the face of it, it looks highly suspicious,” said Sivarasa.

Sivarasa also urged the Election Commission (EC) and the Home Ministry to explain the matter as soon as possible.

“We warn you. If you are ferrying dubious voters, Pakatan Rakyat will throw the book on whoever who is involved once we are in power,” he said.
