3 May 2013-Reports say that raids were conducted and some incriminating documents ‘seized’ from the residence of ‘power star’ Srinivasan, who was recently shifted to the Vellore Central Prison from the Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai. Last week, the self-styled ‘power star’ was taken into custody by the Chennai police which was acting upon complaints filed with it by a businessman based in Andhra Pradesh.
Ranganathan, the businessman in question, had approached Srini for securing a loan of Rs.20 crore for promoting and developing his business. Srini was reportedly paid a sum of Rs.50 lakhs as a ‘commission’ for securing the loan for the businessman. As Srini neither got him the loan nor returned the money to him, Ranganathan filed a complaint leading to the former’s arrest by the police.
Police commissioner S George in-charge of investigations into the case said “We have been getting many complaints against Srinivasan of money fraud and cheating. Among those have made recently made complaints include Ravindar kumar of Thirumangalam who alleged he was cheated to the tune of 7.5 lakh.
Devadasan , managing partner of Ambika Jeweller , alleging he had paid 21.5 lakh to get a loan 5.35 crore , but the cheques given to him bounced. His landlord also has complained for 10 month rental pending. And few more people have also complained.
The crime branch secured permission from the Court to raid his Anna Nagar residence, Chennai and we have recovered some documents which are clear enough to further strengthen their case against the actor. Investigations are still on and the truth would be out soon.”
