KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 – Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth are expected to have a meeting to conduct a detailed study on the voting trend for the just concluded 13th General Election (GE13) said its chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
Khairy said during the meeting, strategies to reunite and revive the confidence of the people towards BN would also be discussed.
“Through a post-mortem, we hope to draft a number of steps needed to recapture the trust of voters towards BN in the future,” he told Bernama when contacted, here, today.
Khairy said the BN Youth had achieved a favourable result in the just concluded GE13 as BN Youth candidates won nine Parliament and 33 state seats throughout the country.
“From the 42 BN Youth candidates fielded, 26 who were from UMNO Youth won 21 state seats and five Parliament seats,” he said.
Khairy who retained the Rembau Parliament seat said though some of them lost, they were able to gain valuable exposure, since they were new faces and would have gained experience and be known to the voters when the next general election comes around.
Meanwhile, Puteri UMNO chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said the wing would also call for a meeting to study the “tsunami voting” trend experienced by BN candidates.
“I am saddened to see the ‘tsunami voting’ trend because it showed the racial sentiments played up by the Pakatan Rakyat to poison the minds of the people,” she said.
Rosnah who defended her Papar Parliament seat said Puteri UMNO contested in two Parliament and seven state seats.
“From the nine, only one candidate lost in Sikamat, Negeri Sembilan due to the voting pattern among Chinese voters,” she said.
