Nigerian President begins state visit to Namibia thursday

JONATHANWINDHOEK, May 8 – Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan will jet into the country on Thursday for a two-day State visit, accompanied by a 43-member delegation, including two governors and six ministers.

It will be his first State visit to Namibia after he became president of that country in 2010.

Among other activities, the Nigerian leader and his entourage will visit Namibian defence contractor Windhoeker Maschinenfabrik (WMF), telecommunications company Satcom and the Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco).

President Jonathan will also lay a wreath at the Heroes’ Acre in honour of fallen Namibian heroes and heroines. Prior to becoming president, he served as Governor of the Bayelsa State, and Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
