PETALING JAYA, May 24- Former Puchong Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chairman S. Murali was sentenced to 18 months’ jail for preventing a school headmistress from discharging her duties two years ago.
Magistrate Nor Afidah Idris ordered Murali, 45, to serve the sentence today. She also ordered him to pay the prosecution cost of RM3,000, in default three months’ jail.
Murali was charged with using criminal force to deter the headmistress of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Tamil Tun Sambathan, K. G Sarasavathy, 53, from discharging her duties in the headmistress’ room at 12.50pm on March 10, 2011.
Deputy public prosecutor Saphira Selamat prosecuted, while Murali was represented by lawyer S. Selvam.
