MAY 29- The BJP has expelled senior lawyer and MP Ram Jethmalani (photo) from the primary membership of party for six years over ‘breach of discipline’.
BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar on Tuesday said that the party’s parliamentary board had taken a unanimous decision to expel him from membership of the party.
“The central parliamentary board after considering all your replies, responses and letters was of the unanimous opinion that you have indulged in a breach of discipline. The parliamentary board, therefore, decided to expel you for a period of six years from the primary membership of the Party,” the letter stated.
Earlier, Jethmalani was suspended on November 26, 2012, for demanding then party president Nitin Gadkari’s resignation over corruption charges.
However, that suspension was revoked after Jethmalani met senior leader LK Advani and BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on January 12, 2013.
