MAY 29-David Beckham has bought his family £30,000 cars. The retired soccer star splashed out on two Audi Q3s to thank his mum and his mother-in-law for their constant support – and years of babysitting duties – during his high-profile sports career.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “They are gorgeous vehicles that Jackie and Sandra love. When you think about how important their families are to David and Vic, and how huge bother their careers are, you can only begin to imagine the sort of work and commitment their parents put in over the years.
“From babysitting and international travel with zero notice to being counsellors for Posh and Becks when they couldn’t talk to anyone else – their closest family have done it all.
“There will probably be more gifts to follow as David settles down away from playing football. He has so many people he wants to say thank you to and obviously money is no object.”
David – who has children Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 10 and Cruz, eight, as well as 21-month-old daughter Harper with his wife Victoria – is famed for his love of flash cars, and his prized possessions have included an Audi S8, Porsche 911, Lamborghini Gallardo and Bentley Arnage over the years.
The 38-year-old superstar is looking for a new challenge after retiring from sport, playing his last game for Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
Hollywood actor Tom Cruise – who befriended the British power couple when they were living in Los Angeles – has reportedly been discussing the perks of a film career with David.
An insider recently said: “David has always wanted to be an action film star, and Tom promised him a long time ago he can make those dreams come true.
“David still loved soccer but feels that now is a great time to transition into film while he’s still young enough to land top-notch roles.”
