TELUK INTAN, June 4 – The Regent of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah today officially opened the Teluk Intan Health Clinic, here.
Also present were his consort, Raja Puan Besar Tuanku Zara Salim, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
The clinic, servicing some 50,000 residents in the district, was built at a cost of RM23 million. It was completed on Nov 12, 2010 and began operating on Feb 7, 2011.
Located in Jalan Bandar, the clinic provides outpatient treatment, mother and child-care services, and laboratory, diagnostic imaging and dental services.
Earlier, Dr Subramaniam in his speech said that under the Tenth Malaysia Plan, RM8.79 billion had been allocated for the building of new health facilities and upgrading of several existing ones including the non-physical in an effort to improve the health service delivery system.
Subramaniam said three hospitals would be built in Perak, namely in Parit Buntar, Kampar and Seri Iskandar.
He said building the Parit Buntar and Kampar hospitals would cost RM270 million while the cost for the one in Seri Iskandar was still being assessed.
