KUALA LUMPUR, June 5- After the passing of the late film legend Tan Sri P Ramlee, ‘Bujang Lapok’, a film which had become a national screen classic, had lost another of its cast when actor S. Shamsuddin, who was also known as Sudin, died today.

shamsudinDatuk Aziz Sattar, who also starred in the black and white film produced in 1959, told Bernama that while the nation had lost one of its top comedy actors, he had lost a close friend who would be difficult to replace.

“The passing of Sudin is deeply felt because we were very close friends…we had been friends for so long…since we were teenagers, even before we became actors.

Bujang Lapok (1957)“He was a very entertaining friend, his acts had frequently been comical…I truly feel the loss,” he said.

He was informed of Sudin’s death by the latter’s family member in Singapore at 11 am today and immediately left for Singapore to pay his respects.

Aziz, who last met Sudin early this year when he visited the late actor at the Alexandra Hospital, said he could still remember how Sudin liked to laugh and had never taken offence every time he made fun of the actor.

He said Sudin was also a natural-born actor who was comical and his passing would always be remembered by the national film industry.

Sudin, 84, died at his home at Block 101 Bukit Batok, West Avenue 6, #07-34, Jurong, Singapore at 10.56 am.
