8 Kuala Selangor Chinese primary schools get RM 400,000 in aid

KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 3  – Eight national-type Chinese primary schools (SJKC) in Kuala Selangor tonight each received RM50,000 in aid from the Finance Ministry.

The schools are SJKC Liat Choon, Jeram, SJKC Yuk Chin, Bestari Jaya, SJKC Chung Wah, Sasaran, SJKC Pui Chi, Assam Jawa, SJKC Pui Teh, Jeram, SJKC Ijok, SJKC Aik Thee, Kuala Selangor and SJKC Liat Choon, Jeram.  The cheques for the contribution were handed over by Datuk Mohd Shafei Abdullah, the political secretary to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to representatives of the school management boards and parent-teacher
associations at a charity dinner held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration organised by Sasaran MCA branch, here.

In his speech, Mohd Shafei said the education aid to students and schools were channelled by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government under the leadership of Najib as prime minister based on the awareness that the country needed educated human resources to achieve developed-nation status.

Speaking to reporters later, he said the aid presented tonight was proposed by Kuala Selangor MCA and BN to the prime minister to repair the school buildings.  At the function, Mohd Shafei who was accompanied by Jeram assemblyman Datuk Amiruddin Setro and other grassroot political leaders, also presented ‘ang pow’ to the less fortunate.
