JUNE 7- Pippa Middleton has become Vanity Fair magazine’s new contributing editor, and in her first piece she recalls queuing to get into the Wimbledon tennis championships at 5am with her sister, Duchess Catherine.

The 29-year-old sister of Duchess Catherine has become Vanity Fair’s new contributing editor and in her debut article she recalls queuing at 5am to get into Wimbledon – the London-based tennis spectacle – with the duchess to see her “hero” Tim Henman.

PIPAIn a section about her favourite Wimbledon moments, she wrote: “Queuing from 5am on People’s Sunday in 2004 with my sister for three hours and getting 35 pound tickets on Centre Court – my first time ever.

“Seats were a free-for-all and I recall almost tripping over myself trying to get as close as possible to my birthday twin – British hero Tim Henman. The atmosphere was electric – more of a carnival than a glorified garden party, which it so often is – and for once crowds were thankful for the British rain.”

Pippa also recalls being an aspiring tennis player and setting her sights on winning the prestigious tennis tournament.

She wrote: “I first went to Wimbledon when I was eight years old and already a very keen tennis player.

“During this first trip I acted on my childish tennis dreams and bought myself a postcard of the women’s championship trophy, on which I wrote, ‘I will win this one day,’ with my signature below.”

As well as her latest magazine deal, Pippa has a monthly Friday Night Feasts column in Waitrose magazine and published her first book, ‘Celebrate: A Year of British Festivities for Family and Friends’, last year.
