PAKAN (Sarawak), June 10- The Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) hopes that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will give its leaders posts at federal level.
Its president, Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom said the party had complete faith in Najib who is also the Barisan National (BN) chairman.
“Although SPDP is not represented at federal level, we believe the prime minister will give federal posts to several SPDP members of parliament,” he said at Gawai Dayak celebration at George Longhouse, Nanga Nangsanghere today.
It was attended by Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor. In the 13th general election (GE13), SPDP won all four parliamentary seats contested in Sarawak.
SPDP was confident that Najib and Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud were always concerned about the party, the Dayaks and the other races.
Mawan who is also Sarawak Social Development Minister said SPDP was fully committed and would remain loyal to Najib and Abdul Taib’s leadership.
He thanked Najib for implementating several rural projects including supply of clean water from Gerugu to Pakan and its vicinity.
The federal government also announced contribution of RM2 million to the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) of which Mawan is the president.
