Kuching, June 14 – Two Parti Rakyat Bersatu Sarawak (SUPP) branches, namely Piasau and Bekenu, have been issued show cause letters by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) for alleged irregularities during the triennial delegates conference held in December 2011.
ROS director-general Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman(Left) in statement issued here, Friday, said the show cause letters was issued under Section 13 (2) of the Societies Act 1966 after receiving complaints from members of the party who were not happy with the process of sending delegates to the TDC SUPP conference.
“SUPP has 30 days from the date of the show cause notice that was dated June 6, 2013, to provide a satisfactory reply,” he said.
Abdul Rahman said the show cause letter was not a directive to deregister SUPP, but a show cause letter in accordance with provisions under the Societies Act.
Meanwhile, Sarawak ROS director Ken Leben in a press conference held FRiday to explain more about the notice said, the letter dated June 6, was sent to the party’s Piasau and Bekenu branches, party president, Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui and the party treasurer.
“I was instructed by ROS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur to clear the air from public and particularly SUPP, pertaining to the dispute in the party. Before this there were complaints from 14 SUPP branches, that there were some irregularities to the branches which sent their delegates to the TDC SUPP in November 2011.
The complaints were filed by 14 branches, namely Kuching, Pending, Padungan, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Bintangor, Repok, Sibu, Kanowit, Bintulu, Piasau, Bekenu, Julau and Song.
