KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 – The Padang Merbok grounds, here, are no longer occupied by Black 505 tents and the number of supporters there have decreased from 260 people yesterday to 100 people today.
Solidarity for Malaysian Young People (SAMM) chairman Badrul Hisham Shahrin, who is also known as Cikgu Bard, said the tents were dismantled by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) with help from the police at 4.30am this morning.
“Those who remain here are making do with banners and boxes. Our next move will be announced later,” he told Bernama.
Yesterday, DBKL ordered rally participants to take down their tents as they violated the Local Government By-law (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 1992 which states that it was illegal to gather without a permit and set up a tent under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.
