KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 – The Air Pollutant Index (API) in Muar, which was declared as an emergency area yesterday, continued to show positive developments with the reading reported at 148, which is categorised as unhealthy as at 7am today, compared with 507 recorded at 4pm yesterday.
According to the Department of Environment (DoE), only one area, namely Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan was categorised as dangerous with the API at 335.
Meanwhile, two areas which still recorded very unhealthy API were Bukit Rambai, Melaka with the API at 260 and Kemaman, Terengganu at 249.
Nineteen areas had unhealthy API, while 28 had moderate readings and one area had good API.
Based on the quality index, a reading of between 0 and 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) while 300 and above is categorised as dangerous.
