KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has welcomed the United Kingdom’s consideration to increase the number of its Chevening scholarships for Malaysian students.
“UK considering increasing number of Chevening scholarships for Malaysians. Welcome move for students looking to further studies,” he said in a tweet yesterday.
Yesterday, UK’s Minister in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Hugo Swire, said increasing the number of scholarships was a good way of furthering relations between the two countries which was already at an all-time high.
He said Malaysia was currently the second country where the UK was sponsoring the largest number of students for the prestigious scholarship.
