SHAH ALAM, June 29- Teachers in the country must always update their knowledge of the latest technologies in a bid to produce future generations with global skills, Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap.
She said they should also be prepared with new sets of perspective in moulding their students into becoming quality human capital to meet the requirements of the globalisation era in the 21st century.
“Today’s students are interactive and they are globally connected. So, teachers must keep up with this development,” she said when opening the International Conference on Learning and Teaching here yesterday.
The deputy minister said in line with the development, technology-based skill training activities must be applied in all aspects of education to create an interactive learning process at school.
She said the move was also aimed at encouraging the students to learn more as a preparation for them to deal with future technology.
Yap also expressed hope that the conference would bring about positive impact that would take the national education system to greater heights.
The two-day conference was jointly organised by Selangor Education Department and Taylor’s University.
A total of 700 participants took part in the conference, including representatives from Canada, the United States, Philippine, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, India, Denmark, Singapore, Bangladesh and Vietnam.
