KUALA LUMPUR, July 2- The human resources ministry will not allow any company to defer the application of minimum salary which ended yesterday.

riotMinister Datuk Richard Riot said as of yesterday, a total of 743 deferred applications were being processed, and expected to be completed in the near future.

“After Jan 1, next year, the ministry will not allow exemption to any company requiring to pay minimum salary of RM800 per month in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan; and RM900 (per month) in Peninsular Malaysia, in accordance with theMinimum Salary Order 2012 for private sector,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby here today.

Richard said the decision was made since the ministry had given flexibility to big, medium and small industries by providing three phases of delay, beginning last December until December this year.

Last December, a total of 632 individual employers and the remaining employers who are members of the Public Bus Operators Association, Security Control Association and Hotels Association were deferred in the implementation of the minimum salary for certain periods, that is, up to April 1, 2013, July 1, 2013 and October 1, 2013.
