July 6 – Much awaited “Singham -2”, a sequel to the run-away success of Singham has hit the screens. The film does not disappoint the fans as Director Hari has successfully worked very hard to package the film for the masses.
Surya on his part has also given his dedication to the film by putting up a superb performance and what we get is highly entertaining, fast-paced police story thriller filled with some of the big stars in Tamil industry.
Surprisingly Director Hari has also successfully roped in comedian Santhanam together with Vivek, retaining the latter’s role in Singham – 1 as the police constable. In this movie Vivek is promoted as an Inspector assisting Surya.
To add some additional glamour there comes the voluptuous Hansika Motwani who is now hailed as the heart-throb Tamil cinema fans. Anushka is also retained as the main heroine. Anjali also does an item song with Surya.
The story, continues from where it left in Singham-1 and revolves around the Southern Tamil Nadu town of Thoothukoodi, a port well known for illegal and smuggling activities. Surya, as Duraisingham becomes an undercover cop dispatched to find out the culprits behind the illegal activities.
Later, he sheds his under-cover identity and takes on the villains directly. Rahman is the villain in Singham – 2 which also has two other characters as villains.
The story later shifts to focus on foreign groups operating in India smuggling drugs. Surya, forms a specific team code-named “Operation D” to plan and capture the criminals. Whether Surya succeeds in his mission is the climax of the movie.
Surya once again re-lives his role as the loud-talking, straight forward police officer determined to wipe out criminals from the society.
Devi Sri Prasad or DSP as he is popularly known once again scores the music for the movie and has belted out some fast numbers to keep the viewers glued to the screen.
Hari’s usual style of fast-paced screenplay is also adapted in this movie. It keeps the audience occupied without thinking about logic or loop-holes in the storyline.
Singham -2 has also opened to packed houses in Tamil Nadu and Malaysia. The opening box office collection in Tamil Nadu is reputedly very encouraging and film-pundits predict a smashing box office collection surpassing Singham – 1.
The Hindi film world has also been eagerly waiting for the release of Singham – 2 as the first movie was made in Hindi with the same name with Ajay Devgan in the lead role. Hindi Singham became the first movie for Ajay Devgan to collect more that 1 billion rupees.
Singham -2 is also expected to be made in Hindi with Ajay Devgan again in the lead role.
Singham – 2 is an entertainer not to be missed.
