KUALA SELANGOR, July 15- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said although there may be political differences and differing opinions among Muslims in Malaysia, this should not lead to extreme conflicts.

“Instead, we should find common grounds so that Muslims and Islam are not threatened and we can bring Malaysia further forward,” he said at a breaking-of-the-fast function with Umno leaders and the local community at the Jamiuridhuan Mosque in Simpang Empat Jeram here tonight.

He also said Malaysia rejected extremist and fanatical leanings and those who sought to destroy this blessed nation and instead practised moderation which was seen as the best way forward for the country and Islam.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun RazakApart from this, he said the government practised a policy of inclusiveness, which brought together Muslims and non-Muslims under an administration that was fair and equitable.

“One of the reasons Malaysia is enjoying peace and harmony unlike some countries in North Africa and the Middle East is because we practise moderate policies which are in accordance with Islam,” he said.

He said the Federal Government under the Barisan Nasional (BN) would continue to govern the country to the best of its ability so that holistic development as called for by Islam could be brought about.

Najib said in valuing the mandate given by the people to the BN under the leadership of Umno, propagation of Islam would be intensified and that the teachings and sanctity of Islam would be defended including the use of the word Allah.

“We will provide more opportunities in terms of education including Islamic education, more mosques throughout the country and (religious) facilities that are more confortable,” he said.

And to appreciate the contributions of mosque and surau committees throughout the country, Najib said they would be given kain pelikat, kain jubah, telekung and zam-zam although their quantities might not be much.

At the function, Najib presented these items to Selangor Umno heads to be distributed to mosque and surau comittees throughout Selangor.

He also  approved a request by the mosque’s committee to build a multi-purpose hall for the public.

Najib together with the Umno leaders and more than 2,000 guests performed the Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers at the mosque.

Also present were Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Selangor Umno information head Abdul Shukur Idrus, Kuala Selangor Umno head and Jeram assemblyman Datuk Amiruddin Setro, Kuala Selangor Member of Parliament Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim, Bukit Melawati assemblyman Jakiran Jacoma and Najib’s Norashman Razak.
