JULY 19- Bollywood actor Salman Khan is in a Mumbai session court to face trial for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and not death by negligence in the 2002 Mumbai hit-and run-case.
One person was killed and four were injured in the accident.
The actor was earlier tried for a lesser offence under Section 304-A of the IPC, with a maximum punishment of two years in jail.
A Bandra metropolitan court, which was hearing the case since 2006, recently transferred it to a sessions court.
Salman had appealed against the order but the plea was rejected.
He also said the actor was fully aware that people slept on the footpaths in the locality.
On September 28, 2002, a Land Cruiser which Salman was allegedly driving in an inebriated state rammed into a bakery in Bandra, killing one and injuring four others sleeping on the pavement.
