“By God’s grace, he (Tengku Zaihan) is the most suitable candidate for the future well-being of Kuala Besut,” the prime minister said in a post on his Facebook account.
Najib said Tengku Zaihan, 37, was a young and enthusiastic candidate capable of coming up with new ideas to enhance the quality of life in Kuala Besut.
The prime minister said he hoped that the voters would come out early to exercise their right.
He also expressed the hope that polling would be smooth.
The by-election is a straight fight between Tengku Zaihan and Endot alias Azlan Yusof, 48, of PAS.
The seat fell vacant on June 26 following the death of the assemblyman, Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar of BN.
